Barbara Nyren Fletcher was born October 2, 1939 to Eric and Elva Nyren in Mills County Iowa. She attended Henderson Consolidated School from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Growing up in the Wesley Chapel community, she was active in Sunday School, youth fellowship and peppy pak 4-H club. In school she enjoyed sports, band and working on the school paper, The Ink Spot.

A longtime interest in medicine prompted her to enter nursing school at University of Illinois in Chicago where she graduated with honors and a BSN degree. Barbara was employed in hospitals in Chicago in various positions and ended her career at University of Illinois in occupational medicine.

In 1989 Barbara married the love of her life, Howard Fletcher in Hawaii. They recently celebrated their 30 th anniversary in Sun City Georgetown, Texas.

They have enjoyed the arrival of three grandsons; Scott, Brian and Eric; and one granddaughter, Linda.

In her retirement years Barbara pursued interests in drawing, birding, wild flower, journaling her adventures and golfing.

Howard and Barbara loved traveling in their motor home to many beautiful sites around the United States participating in many activities. "It's not the miles you travel, it's the friends you make along the way."
