Antoinette Gwendolyn Brooks Stoute, 101, passed away on July 13, 2026, in Round Rock, Texas.

Antoinette (Toni) was born in Swissvale, Pennsylvania, along with her twin sister Jeannette Gazelle Brooks Fouche on June 30, 1925, to John Edward Brooks and Lottie Helen Robinson Howard Brooks. The family moved to Montclair, NJ,, where Antoinette attended Grove Street Elementary and graduated from Montclair High School, class of 1943. She attended Virginia State College, returned home and worked in support of the war effort.

She married Allen Morris Stoute, resided in Nutley, NJ, and raised two sons, Gregory and Stephan Allen Stoute, while working for various companies, eventually retiring from the Essex County Prosecutor's office. In 2016, she relocated to Texas to be closer to her children.

Best known for her one of a kind character -- honest, outgoing, inquisitive, opinionated and forthright (never to back down from an argument), yet extremely generous, compassionate and caring. She always opened her heart and home to her sons' friends and acquaintances. Her smile (when offered) was infectious, and her culinary skills are legendary.

In 2026, at the age of 100, Antoinette was diagnosed with mesenteric ischemia, managed only palliatively, and departed this life on July 13, 2026.

Antoinette was preceded in death by her husband Allen, and sisters Bessie Louise Brooks, Georgia Bell Howard Thornton, Spurgeon Olive Howard Winfree, Mildred Claiborne Brooks Watkins and Jeannette Gazelle Brooks Fouche.

Antoinette is survived by her loving sons Gregory Allen Stoute and Stephan Allen Stoute; daughter-in-law Rhonda McClure Stoute and Delsie Goudeau Stoute; adoring grandchildren, Nicholas Gregory Stoute (Amari), Joshua Stephan Stoute and Courtland Bivens (Suzette); great-grandchildren Yara Antoinette Stoute and Angelina Marcet Bivens; sister Helen Audrey Brooks Williams; and family-by-affection Myra Smith, Susan Terry, Joan Moses, Omega Darrien, Dr. Curtis and Andrea Johnson. In addition to a host of beloved nieces and nephews, Louis Dutreuil Fouche III and JoAnn Thornton Burrell's love, devotion and companionship brought great joy and comfort to her throughout the years.

 In accordance with Antoinette's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. The family appreciates your love, prayers, and support during this difficult time and asks that you honor her memory in your own personal way in lieu of flowers.
