Ann Rice
Stewart
February 23, 1944 – November 19, 2025
The family of Ann Rice Stewart is saddened to announce her passing on November 19, 2025 at the age of 81 years in Georgetown, Texas. She was born February 23, 1944 in Dallas, Texas, daughter of the late Robert Lane Rice and Mozelle Reeves Rice.
Ann is survived by her husband, James Larry Stewart (Larry) of Georgetown, Texas; two daughters, Lee Ann Daigle (Rochester, NY), Amy Carpenter (Georgetown, TX); three grandchildren, Hannah Carpenter, James Carpenter and Julia Daigle; three siblings, Cindy Holster, Nancy Hammonds and Bill Rice.
Ann grew up in Clarksville and Paris, TX, where she graduated from Paris High School and attended Paris Junior College. On June 16, 1962 she married her high school sweetheart, Larry. They were blessed with sixty-three years of a loving marriage. Ann and Larry raised their daughters in Texas and Louisiana. Throughout her life, Ann was a servant of God. She was a lifelong Presbyterian, most recently a member of San Gabriel Presbyterian Church. She was a Presbyterian ruling elder, choir member, Sunday school teacher, Bible study leader and chairperson or member of numerous church organizations and committees. If there was a need, Ann was ready to serve. After her daughters were in their teen years, Ann began working outside of the home again. She loved her job as the manager of a gourmet food and wine shop in Lafayette, Louisiana, where she made new friends and enjoyed presenting wine and cheese tasting events for local organizations. Her organizational skills and outgoing personality led her to many successful years as a valued administrative assistant. Ann was also involved in many community and volunteer endeavors, where she always emerged as a leader. Her daughters describe her as being "the president of every organization she was in!" One of her most meaningful accomplishments was becoming a teaching leader for Bible Study Fellowship International, where she guided many women along their spiritual journeys. In addition to being a loving mother and grandmother, perhaps one of her greatest joys was walking beside Larry on his path to becoming an ordained Presbyterian minister and taking on the role of pastor's wife. Seeing and hearing Larry share God's love from the pulpit was an indescribable joy for her.
Ann never met a stranger. She was unfailingly friendly, warm and gracious. Her family smiles when they recall her quick wit, curiosity, intelligence and sense of humor. She was the ultimate exemplar of a wife and mother and loved her husband, daughters and grandchildren unconditionally. She knew how to love and be loved. Her family will miss her every day, but we also believe in the life eternal which is promised through our Lord, Jesus Christ and so, we know we will be with her again.
A celebration of life will be held at San Gabriel Presbyterian Church in Georgetown, Texas at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
