Baughman
July 4, 1989 – January 31, 2022
Andrew "Drew" Baughman was born on July 4 th , 1989 to Pete and Kari Baughman in Austin, TX. He was a deeply loved son, brother, husband and step-father who passed away unexpectedly on January 31 st 2022 at the age of 32. He spent his entire childhood in Cedar Park, TX and graduated from Cedar Park High School in 2007. A true Texas boy, Drew 's love of playing football kept him on the field from his early Pop Warner days all the way through high school where he received several District awards as a defensive end . After graduation he went on to play a t Midwestern State University, deciding to hang up his cleats after two years.
Following his graduation from Northwest Lineman College, Drew pursued a career as an electrical line worker and achieved his journeyman license in 2019 . He was accomplished and had been a part of many extraordinary jobs t hroughout his career. Projects such as being in the mountains of Colorado hanging from a helicopter , in the South and Southeast states helping restore power in hurricane ravaged areas , and being selected to compete in the Texas Lineman Rodeo . H e was fearless and fully dedicated to helping others.
After living on the road for a number of years, he settled back in Austin and worked for Pedernales Electric Cooperative and most recently Austin Energy. When returning to Austin , he met the love of his life Danielle Phillip s where t he y happily married and he proudly became step-father to son Aidan Clark on April 26 th , 2019. They would have celebrated their 3 rd anniversary in a few short months.
Drew had a great big heart that started at an early age. He adored his little brother and was so proud he even brought him to Show & Tell in the first grade . H e selflessly took his piggy bank with all the money he had earned just to give it to the next door neighbor who had experienced a fire at his home . He also helped deliver Christmas presents to many different children with a parent in prison.
As a young adult he sponsored numerous others struggling with addictio n . S ubsequently it led him to becom ing the house manager of a half-way house for young men in recovery . Through his church he completed a training program where he became a loving mentor to a young boy living in poverty. He touched other's lives in meaningful ways.
His favorite days were spent with family and friends, cooking behind the grill and playing a competitive game of corn hole. He loved to try new places, foods and experiences. He treasured his friendships, was fiercely loyal , and especially enjoyed the annual traditions they had established. Above all else , he loved spending time with Danielle and Aidan , all snuggled up with their two dogs Thor and Odi n.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Danielle Baughman and treasured step-son, Aidan Clark; parents: Pete Baughman and Kari ( Gohlke ) Baughman; brother, Cole Baughman and girlfriend Maggie Loibl; along with his many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Art and Ellie Gohlke and John and Nancy Baughman.
Drew's courageous battle with mental illness and addiction ended when his pain became unbearable. We will carry him in his wholeness. We will treasure his memory. We will heal, we will persevere, we will laugh, we will cry, we will thrive, but life will never be the same without our precious Drew. He is sorel y missed . We take comfort in knowing we will be together again one day and that he has found his way to the comforting a nd healing arms of our Savior.
A public memorial service will be held on Monday, February 7 th at Hill Country Bible Church Lakeline location , at 11:30am . The service will take place in the Northwest Auditorium through the Family Entrance. Following the memorial service, ple ase join us as we gather together to c elebrate Drew's life. The details of the celebration will be provided at the service.
