Obituary

Alvin Ralph Bauer of Georgetown, Texas passed away on March 17, 2022, at the age of 100 years.  Alvin was born on September 24, 1921, on the family farm in Swiss Alp, Fayette County, Texas, to Willie and Alma Bauer.

During World War II, Alvin served in the Army Air Corps in England and in France from 1942 to 1945 and in the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1951. Alvin was employed by LTV Corporation as a jet engine specialist for 31 years.

After World War II, Alvin married Anna Louise Zimmerman of Round Rock, Texas, in May 1946.  They were married 58 years, until Anna's passing in 2004. Long-time residents of Arlington, Texas, they were members of Advent Lutheran Church. They enjoyed traveling across the United States and Canada with their travel trailer. These trips included memorable visits to Calgary, the Amish country, and the Rio Grande Valley. After Anna's passing, Alvin's sense of adventure took him on mission trips with his church family to build houses in Mexico.

After moving to Georgetown, Texas, Alvin joined Faith Lutheran Church. A lifelong Lutheran, he loved to read the Bible, and had a strong faith in God. Alvin was a gifted gardener, woodworker, and baker of pecan pies. Alvin touched countless lives and was loved by so many.

Alvin is survived by his children: Vivian Wyatt of Georgetown, Texas and Ralph Bauer and his wife Rita of Melissa, Texas. His grandchildren are Clint Bauer and his wife Michelle, Deanne Roddy, Craig Utley and his wife Lesley, and Alex Bauer and his wife Lindsey. Alvin was also blessed by eight great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his two sisters Laura Ruegg and Leona Bauer, and his son-in-law Joe Wyatt.

The family is grateful to the management and staff of The Oaks Gracious Retirement Living and Magnolia Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Faith Lutheran Church of Georgetown, Texas.
