Obituary

It is with heavy hearts yet deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Alfred Russell Truslow III, most affectionately known as Grandpa. He departed this world on April 10, 2026 at the age of 90. Born to Alfred Russell Truslow Jr. (Captain USN) and Dorothy Jones Truslow on December 28, 1935 in the beautiful city of San Diego, CA, he has now been lovingly reunited with his parents.

Grandpa was a man who wore many hats throughout his life, each with grace and a profound sense of purpose. He was a devoted husband to his cherished wife Janet, with whom he shared over 61 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a loving family including their daughter Dorothy and her husband Kevin O’Hare, their son Marc and wife Lori Truslow along with their 5 most cherished grandchildren: Corbin, Bryce, JD, Kaileigh and Timmy Truslow.

He was a learned man, having pursued his education at Santa Rosa High School, San Jose State (engineering) and Northeastern University (MBA). His thirst for knowledge and wisdom was a hallmark of his character. He was known for being a voracious reader, always with a book in hand to spark his curiosity.

A proud veteran, Alfred served as a Lieutenant in the Navy, dedicating 23 years to both active and reserve service. His commitment to his country began as an almost 6 year old on December 7, 1941. With his father as a captain in the Navy, they were stationed in Pearl Harbor where he witnessed the attack first hand with stories to tell for a lifetime. His commitment to his country and his community was unwavering. He took immense pride in his role as a 33rd degree Mason and was the past master of Santa Rosa Luther Burbank masonic lodge 57. He was the Venerable Master of Santa Rosa Scottish Rite, a Shriner and proudly earned his Distinguished Rifleman Badge. During his time as a Shriner, he brought great joy to a great deal of people as a Shrine Clown. He entertained at the Shriner’s Hospital, the Shrine football game and many other local events.

Grandpa was a man of vision and determination. These qualities he brought to his career, where he ran his own company, CESCO Magnetics, for over 30 years. His work with both food and pharmaceutical manufacturers was marked by innovation and integrity.

When not working, Grandpa found solace and excitement in target shooting, sailing, Masonic duties, and engaging with the world through the written word. These hobbies reflected his adventurous spirit and his love for life’s simple pleasures.

Private memorial services will be held and Alfred will be laid to rest at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations in his name to Shriners Children’s Hospital.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to his friends at The Wesleyan in Georgetown and especially the loving staff and community at Georgetown Living, whose care and compassion were a comfort to Grandpa these past 3.5 years.
