Conrad F. "Con" Rourke, age 90, passed away on November 16 ^th at his home in Georgetown, Texas while working in his yard, one of his favorite pastimes.  He was born in Springfield, Illinois on June 6th, 1928, the son of Gwendolyn Mullen and Cyril Rourke, and grew up in Waverly and Springfield.  He proudly served in the US Navy during World War II and after discharge and graduation from the University of Illinois, met and married his wife of 64 years, Lenore Ann Meers.  Throughout their marriage, they enjoyed a life filled with the love of a sprawling, vibrant family and a long list of friends, all of whom, now mourn his death and celebrate his life.

Con is survived by his wife, Lenore, of Georgetown; five children: Timothy (wife, Janet) Rourke of Chicago, Il., Patrick (wife, Jeanne) Rourke of Little Elm, TX., Daniel (wife, Julie) Rourke of Chatham, Il., Mary Lynn (husband, Robert) Power of Athens, TX., and Laurie (husband, Billysteve) Korpi of  Austin, TX; two step brothers: Jim (wife, Donna) Reller of Waconia, MN and Bill (wife, Jan) Reller of Loudon, TN; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Roy Reller; one sister, Marjorie (George) Kerasotes; and brothers: James (Jo) Rourke, John (Sandy) Rourke, and Cyril Rourke.

For most of his adult life, Con called Jacksonville, IL his home.  He spent his entire professional career in the insurance business -- 30 years with Sentry Insurance and 10 years with Grojean Insurance.  His children recall his constant participation and support in their many sporting and school events, which continued with his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.  He was a member of Our Saviour Catholic Church, Jacksonville Country Club, the Elks Club and an active Charter Member of Lake Springfield Knights of Columbus Council 4179 where he helped build the facility many years ago.

Con's lifelong enthusiasm for sports and outdoor activities continued through these years both as a spectator and an active participant.  He remained an avid golfer and routinely shot his age or better.  He loved to pass along his finely-honed skills as a crappie fisherman.  He rarely missed a broadcast of his beloved St. Louis Cardinals and closely followed the equally beloved Glenwood Chatham Titans.  In addition, he followed every college or professional team that held the interest of one of his immediate family members simply because he knew it mattered and wanted to be able to share their experiences.  And was a creature of habit, completing his daily crossword puzzle and enjoying his 5 o'clock martini, without exception.

Despite all of his many interests and activities throughout his final years, Con never wavered from his role as the primary caregiver for Lenore.  Except for his occasional trips to visit family and friends, he rarely missed his daily visits to the nursing home where they would spend time talking about family or reminiscing about their long lives together.

A Funeral Mass will take place at 1:30pm on December 3rd, 2018, at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2700 E. University Ave. Georgetown, TX 78626.

In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to Wesleyan Nursing Home, St. Helen's Catholic Church and Routt High School.  The family will receive visitors at the Rourke residence in Georgetown from 4 to 6 pm following the funeral.

Plans for an Illinois memorial will be announced at a later date.
